THE BASQUE DREAM KEEP GOING

They say that every season one team is always the surprise package in spain. This season has belonged to Real Sociedad. The Basque club was expected to fight relegation but now find themselves in fourth champions league place. A dream for the club who were so recently plying their trade in the Segunda division.

The side coached by Philippe Montanier have lost only once since the start of November , a  4-3 loss at the Bernabeu when Xabi Prieto scored a hat-trick. Infact the team is unbeaten in their last 9 league games and definitely the form team in Spain at the moment.

In the afternoon match today, Sociedad scored four goals in a blitz of 15 minutes to thrash Real  Valladolid .
The hosts were the better side from the start, with Daniel Hernandez in the Valladolid goal being the busier of the two keepers.

The first goal was scored by Antoine Griezmann  in the 33rd minute, after he tapped home a Mikel Gonzalez free kick. Sociedad made it 2-0 six minutes later, as Agirretxe got on the score sheet this time.Soon the ever effective  Griezmann  made it 3-0.

Soon after the interval Carlos Vela crossed the ball in towards the visitors' goal, finding Xabi Prieto, who struck the ball in for Sociedad's fourth goal in 15 minutes.

Alvaro Rubio and Manucho both had chances to reduce the deficit for the visitors, but is was not until the 87th minute that Valladolid found a consolation goal, Javi Guerra tapping in an Oscar cross.

The win moves Real Sociedad into the top four, while Valladolid drop to 12th.
